This story racked up tens of thousands of readers and relatively high “time spent on page” numbers. An interview with the social media specialist for the US Consumer Public Safety Commission, otherwise known as the government agency with the best memes. Hours after this story was published on Digg, another publication copied my reporting and churned out there own version of the post, which I considered to be a flattering form of plagiarism.

Insane Genius Made An Entire Album Of 'Smooth' Remixes — Here's Our Review (It's Good)

I reviewed a bizarre internet mixtape comprised entirely of remixes to the Grammy-winning song “Smooth.” It was a bizarre internet adventure, but it was fun and performed fairly well for a Friday afternoon. After the piece went up, the creator of the mixtape (a mysterious music producer named “Jetski”) reached out by email to say that I “got” the point of the project. That felt like a victory.
